Beagle Club of Queensland Walks
Several times a year the Beagle Club of Queensland conducts Beagle walks for club members and Beagle enthusiasts alike. The walks have been held at Woorim Beach on Bribie Island, about 1 1/2 hours drive from Brisbane, Southport Spit on the Gold Coast, and Daisy Hill State Forest about 20 minutes south of Brisbane City and Mount Coot-tha which overlooks Brisbane. Our newest walks are through Brisbane city which included the Botanical Gardens, the Goodwill Bridge and Southbank, and the Redcliffe Peninsula Beach Walk.

University Of Queensland and Green Bridge Walk
13th September 2009
It was one of those picture perfect Queensland days in Beautiful Brisbane. A cool cloudless morning meant it was going to be a fabulous walk along the grounds of the University of Queensland.
While the grounds of the University means there are lots of choices for long walks, we begin ours at the rowing shed, then head along the river to the Green Birdge. This bridge is a pedestrian and bus bridge connecting St Lucia to Dutton Park on the southside.
The beagles began to assemble with their owners at around 8:30. For many of the beagles the club walks are a regular event to get together with their friends.
We headed off about 9:00 with the pack drawing lots of smiles from joggers and those who use the river footpath for a leisurely Sunday walk. As we got to the start og the Green Bridge, the Lollypop Lady couldn’t believe her eyes as the 22 beagles that were at the walk waited at the crossing. She was more than happy to stop the traffic while we crossed in front of the amazed cyclists and cars.
The walk across the bridge is delightful, as is the walk up to the Dutton park dog off leash area. There were no other dogs in the park when we arrived and the pack spent lots of time doing what they do best – having a good sniff at everything they found. As time went on in the park, a few of the pack decided that a good game of chase was in order and we all sat back and enjoyed watching the game.
Before heading back down the hill we had our customary group photo that looks out over St Lucia and south along the river. Then it was the stroll back down the hill, across the bridge and back to Field 5 for some morning tea. The two youngest in the pack – Rosie and Dune – managed to make it all the way back and promptly fell asleep.
Thanks to all those that attended the walk. It was a great day and a great time for everyone.
