This was the first time we have held our Christmas walk on the Gold Coast. It is usually held at Redcliffe. This year we changed to take advantage of the more popular venue. Gold Coast is our most popular walk and it proved to be the same on the 4th of December. We had our best turnout for a walk ever. It was an amazing site to see the 60 beagles that turned out for the fun, sun and Santa.

As usual we began assembling from about 8:30. Lots of new beagles turned up and the usual gang got together. Lots of brothers and sisters and cousins and second cousins were there.

We headed down to the Jetty for the official photos. Wide angle lenses were the order of the day and it was a fabulous site to see all the beagles lined up – well as good a line up as a pack of 60 beagles could muster. The weather was cool and the water was clear. It was making for a fabulous day – clear skies, cool water and crazy beagles having a great time.

About half way down the beach we happened to meet another dog club down for their Christmas walk. This time is was the Great Dane club. It was a fabulous sight to see the pack of beagles mingling with the 20 or so Great Danes. The beagles by far outnumbered the Danes but I think they had us in weight.

We stopped for a short break just north of Main Beach and some club members took advantage of the break for a swim with their four-legged surfers.

On the way back, we came across a photo shoot taking place on the sand dunes. Some ladies in bikinis, all made up for a photo shoot, were too much of a temptation for a pack of about 4 beagles who decided they wanted to be in on the fun.

Once we were back from the walk we headed across to the park for our Christmas party. Not long into our party we had a visitor from a man in a white beard and red suit looking for all the little beagles who had been good boys and girls during the year. After an extensive search, he eventually found a few and gave them all their presents and dog bones and a few photos.

A big thank you to everyone who made the morning so special and for bringing out their beagles for a great time. This year has seen a big increase in the numbers at our walks and I thank everyone who has attended walks during 2011
