I often start report of our walks with what the weather was like. This time I am doing so because the weather was so perfect, it was worth noting. The day was just picture perfect. Warm but not hot, particularly for a November day. The breeze was just enough to keep things pleasant. The tide just ebbing, to allow us to have a good swim on the way back, and the water crystal clear. It was going to be a great walk at Redcliffe on the 6th of November. The regular pack of beagles began to amass. The new beagles greeted by the old. The puppies being as mischievous as ever. Those lucky beagles who have been rescued by kind and loving families, all enjoying the morning. We had three puppies on their first day out and Bessie the rescue beagle from Goondiwindi meeting her new family. As we made our way up to Drury Point before heading south, we were all enjoying the view, the company and the antics of the pack. Puppies barely keeping two legs on the ground as they experienced their first time on a lead. As is often the case, they found themselves being carried to make their life (and the owners) a little more comfortable. We rested about 1km from our starting point. A few inspected the local jetty or lazed in the shade of the trees. On our way back we stopped at the dog swimming area at Drury Point. Usually some beagles are a little reluctant to go for a swim as the waves make them a little uneasy. Today, however, the beach was calm clear and cool and most of the beagles enjoyed the swim. The first swim for the puppies was a sight, although they were a little cold after the swim and had many volunteers to keep them warm during morning tea. The day was a magical day and enjoyed by everyone. Thank you to all that came along for the fun. |
